New Anthem Community Church Child Protection Guidelines

We want to continue to make New Anthem Community Church a safe place for every child and youth. Therefore, the following guidelines have been established and are to be followed by every individual who serves in Our Rhythm Kidz Ministry . Mark "YES" for each guideline to indicate you have read & agree to abide by it.

All workers must complete a Volunteer Application (or a Annual Volunteer Agreement) and be approved by a ministry staff member of New Anthem Community Church. *

There should be a minimum of two volunteers in any room with children. If there is one volunteer, the room door shall remain slightly open or have a window that will allow others to look in. *

It is recommended that in the classroom for families ministering together, doors should be left slightly open or have a window that will allow others to look in. *

When taking children to the restroom, volunteers should only monitor the restroom to assist a child when absolutely necessary and must keep the outside door slightly open. *

If a private conversation needs to take place between volunteer and child/youth for things such as salvation, use walky talky to inform Rhythm Kidz Directors as this is an exciting step in faith! *

If a teacher or leader desires to meet with a child or youth individually at church outside of the normal ministry programming, he/she should receive permission from the parent. The meeting should be in a public place within the church building. *

All children, 3rd grade age and younger, should be dropped off by a parent/guardian. Parents/guardians must also pick up the children and give their security tag to check-in desk. *

If another person is to pick up a child, the parent/guardian must ask the check-in to put them on family account, so the can follow proper security procedures.

Procedures for emergancy situations (fire, tornado, etc.) are posted and should be reviewed for planning route of escape to safety. Basic first aid kits are available in the Sunday school rooms as well as in the resource room. *

Contact a parent when an injury occurs, report it to the ministry leader in charge, and complete an incident report form for any accident.

Use proper judgement when having physical contact with a child. *

Touching and/or hugging should be done in the presence of another adult and in an open classroom. Kissing, extended hugging and tickling, carrying or sitting an older child on your lap is prohibited.

A worker will report any suspected or known child abuse to the director of children's ministry or a pastor of New Anthem Community Church. *

Church leaders must pre-approve off-site activities. Parental consent forms are required for each child participating. *
